About Mediastats Inc.

Mediastats has a long history of excellence in the fields of communications and entertainment data.

Mediastats was founded in 1974 and incorporated in 1975 by Don and Judy Harwood. It’s original products and services included schedule programming for Canadian cable operators and broadcasters, broadcast schedule verification and reports on programming alignments across a wide range of channels. In the early years, channel line-up data was added for the Canadian cable and satellite industries.

The incorporation of a Toronto engineering firm, JRDS (John Rode Data Systems), in the early 90s, (under the name MediaLAB), made it possible for Mediastats to expand its technical offerings. Broadcast engineering and software development were added, allowing Mediastats to expand its product and service offerings.

Today, Mediastats’ portfolio includes cable IPTV and satellite channel line-up data for guides, EPGs and IPGs, for all of the Americas, as well as Western Europe. In addition, we offer broadcast contour casting and postal data capture, for those same markets. This, in conjunction with the cable data, allows the programming of searchable data for all guide-like systems for the hemisphere. Our services include rights-based programming of all head end matrix switchers in Canada, on behalf of Canadian broadcasters and genre and origin coding for the North American film and television industry. In addition, we provide many research services in the areas of line ups, program content and content categories both current and historical.

These are a few of the products and services we have offered for the last 50-years. If it happened in communications and entertainment, we were there.
